Do you like animals? Do you like exercising? If the answers to these questions are "yes" and "not really," we've got just the thing for you. Don't worry, exercise-lovers you'll love this, too. On Sept. 14, 2019, you can run beside zoo animals at the Greater Vancouver Zoo 5KM Turtle Dash. There is also a 1 KM version called the Hatchling Fun Run, for those of you who may be a little less inclined to run through the entire course, but still want to spot some of the zoo animals. The Turtle Dash takes runners around two laps of the zoo where you’ll encounter animals from all around the world. The run guides you though the best sights the Greater Vancouver Zoo has to offer in record time. The race is timed, so you have the opportunity to hit your personal best, while also enjoying some wild sights. You’ll also receive goodies including a shirt and a medal for participating. There will also be free snacks for runners after the race. View this post on Instagram 🐢🏃🏽Less than a month to go until our Turtle Dash and Hatchling fun run! Zoo admission is also included with your registration, so you can stick around and check out the animals for as long as you like afterward. All profits from the race will be going towards the zoo’s conservation projects. One of the zoo’s current conservation projects is working with the Western Painted Turtle, the only remaining native pond turtle left in British Columbia. So, if you're not excited about the idea of running, think of the turtles! The 5 KM race begins at 9:45 a.m. and the Fun Run starts at 9:30 a.m. Parking will be a $6 flat rate, and you can park right in the zoo’s parking lot.
