Ever since they moved out all the prisoners, Kingston Penitentiary is finding new ways to keep people coming through their doors. The jail that was once home to infamous killers like Paul Bernardo and Clifford Olson now does tours for visitors but now they have a new idea. Kingston Penitentiary is hosting a rock festival this summer and it's for a good cause.\nThe concert on September 14 is called Rockin The Big House and it's going to be the very first concert ever to be held at the Pen. The proceeds will be split between The St Lawrence Park Commission, who runs the Penitentiary tours now, and the United Way. This isn't the first United Way fundraising concert, but organizers told Global TV that this may be their one and only event at the Pen because they don't know if they'll get a venue like this again.\nSpeaking of the venue, the rock festival will happen in an outside area within the main gates of Kingston Penitentiary, located in downtown Kingston. The stage will be set up right in front of the central building. According to the event website, the event will happen rain or shine and it's standing room only so people won't be permitted to bring in chairs.\nView this post on Instagram #KingstonPen Tours return for 2018! 🙌🏼 Tickets go on sale at 10AM on Thursday, April 12, 2018! 🗝️ A post shared by Kingston Penitentiary Tours (@kingstonpentour) on Apr 9, 2018 at 9:12am PDT\nAs for the line-up, the Pen is serving up rock and roll nostalgia.
