When winter seems to get here mid-October, we can get pretty tired of it by December, but luckily, we can head to the University of Alberta Botanical Gardens to be reminded of the magic of winter. Luminaria tickets always sell out so you'll want to get yours as early as possible if you make it an annual tradition to wander the candle-lit paths surrounded by snow and watch performances from local artists. Usually, the winter light festival is only held over one weekend. Or to enjoy the outdoors even though it's cold. Well, so far we thoroughly enjoyed the Lumineria at the UofA botanical garden. A post shared by 🇨🇦Braedon❤️Reiko🇯🇵 (@st_breiko) on Dec 16, 2019 at 11:41am PST But this year, they're open all of December so it'll hopefully be easier to go and social distance while you're on the illuminated trails. The gardens expect close to 24,000 people to come to see it this year so it's one of the biggest events of the season. They're open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., but if you're going because you want to get cute wintry photos for your feed, then come early before the sun completely sets. Make sure to grab a cup of free hot apple cider and warm yourself by the bonfire before you go. They also have ultra-romantic fondue parties that sold out pretty much instantly, but they're trying to add more so keep your eyes peeled if you love cheese as much as you love winter lights. Luminaria Price: $20 When: Every night in December from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. (closed on December 25) Address: 51227 AB-60, Spruce Grove, AB Why You Need To Go: The winter might be dark but wandering this candle-lit path makes it seem extra magical.
