As social distancing measures seem to be becoming more and more prevalent and permanent in society, there's been an outpouring of support for local Canadian businesses. Buying everything from skincare to groceries as local as possible is not only popular right now, but super important.\nSome initiatives have also popped up recently as a way to help us think as local as possible right now. One such example is Canada Takeout.\nBeginning as an initiative to encourage Canadians across the country to order takeout in support of their favourite local restaurants, Canada Takeout was inspired by the overwhelming public support to roll out their "Food Holidays" campaign. The first in their lineup is National Burger Day, taking place Wednesday, May 27. Which basically means: this upcoming Wednesday, pick your favourite local burger spot, and order up a warm patty served between two buns!\nAs we all know, you just can't celebrate burger day in Canada without staple, 100% Canadian condiments like French's® Tomato Ketchup, crafted from fresh ripe tomatoes grown in Leamington, Ontario. For extra crunch, Canadians love to add Bick’s® pickles; Canada’s #1 brand of pickles and a condiment with a strong Canadian heritage.\nIf you're having trouble deciding where exactly to grab some grub, here are 10 awesome Canadian burger spots to help make up your mind.\nKrave Burger (Halifax, Nova Scotia)\nPrice: 💸💸\nWhy You Need To Go: Made with 100% locally sourced beef, these burgers are helping support the Maritime farming industry.\nWhile there are various options on the menu, the all-beef Krave Burger is its signature dish. All on a homemade bun.\nView this post on Instagram If you are what you eat, then Chef is a Black & Bleu Burger. Although the Harvest Burger has won awards, the Black & Bleu Burger is the underdog that packs major flavor! Black & Bleu | $18 Speckle Park all-beef patty seasoned with our signature Spicy SW Seasoning (the same as what we use on brisket). The Patty is cooked on the griddle to seal in all the juices; and the sesame brioche bun is buttered and also toasted on the griddle. The sesame brioche bun is house-baked using double the butter and double the eggs, making it the perfect vehicle for a thick patty and plenty of toppings. The bottom of the bun is layered with caramelized onions and house-made cran-chipotle BBQ Sauce (Smokey & Sweet) while the top gets a healthy dollop of roasted garlic aioli (tangy with a bit of a sweet / nutty flavor). The Patty is topped with just enough bleu cheese to cut the sweetness of the sauce and add a tangy kick. Then you get two slices of bacon that we have drizzled with maple syrup, sprinkled with cracked black pepper, and then baked. Toss a tomato and some butter lettuce on top, seal it with the top of the bun and stab it with a giant pickle spear and you've got yourself the Black & Bleu. *Comes with your choice of wild greens salad or our signature house-cut fries. (Tip: If everything on this burger sounds perfect, except the Bleu Cheese, just ask if you can have aged cheddar instead.) FUN FACT: We now offer a 4-pack of burgers in our online store - where you have the choice of the Harvest Burger or the Black & Bleu Burger Fixin's. They're currently sold out, but stay tuned when we announce a restock on our store in the next few days.
